Claims 1855; no early record found.

Hatched: 171 years claimed with no document found yet.

The claim

The Six Mile claims to be British Columbia's oldest pub, and stands beside Parsons Bridge on the old Island Highway west of Victoria, where Bill Parsons built a roadhouse hotel in the mid-1850s on land bought from the Hudson's Bay Company. It closed during Prohibition and reopened under strict beer-only rules, so the trade has not run unbroken. Today it serves pints and brunch using produce from its own organic garden.

What the records show

Bill Parsons bought land from the Hudson's Bay Company and built the Parsons Bridge Hotel, later Six Mile House, in the mid-1850s (1855 per the pub; 1856 per Pub Magazine). It closed during Prohibition and was remodelled afterwards, so 'continuous' is overstated.
