Get in touch

The fastest way to reach us is by email. We read everything, and we answer anything that needs an answer, though not always quickly.

hello@oldpubs.com

We do not have a contact form, because a form would mean storing what you write on a server, and this site deliberately has no server and no database.

What to send where

A date looks wrong. Please use Suggest a correction instead, and include the source. A correction with a document attached is acted on in days; one without takes much longer, because we have to go and find the document ourselves.

A pub is missing. Send the name, the town and what it claims, with a link if you have one. It goes into the research queue in the order it arrives, ahead of anything we have not yet checked.

A pub has closed, or reopened. This is the single most useful message we get. Trading status drives the whole ranking, and local knowledge beats a monthly desk check every time.

You own a pub on this site. We would like to hear from you, particularly if you hold deeds, licences, photographs or a written history that nobody has published. Documents can raise a pub’s grade. Nothing you send can lower it below what the public record already shows, and we will never charge you for anything.

An image credit is wrong or a photograph should not be here. Write to the same address with the page and the file, and we will correct or remove it. We only use images under open licences or in the public domain, and we list every one on the image credits page.

Press, research or data. Say what you need. The graded dataset behind this site is something we are glad to share with journalists, historians and students.

What we cannot help with

We do not book tables, pass messages to pubs, arrange events, or answer questions about opening times — the pub’s own website is the only reliable source for those, which is why we link to it and do not repeat it.
